Who we are
EngTree ("we") is a software studio in New Damietta, Egypt. VI is our product. You can reach us at eng@engegypt.com or on WhatsApp at +20 100 551 9646.
The short version
VI runs on your computer, or on the Business plan on a server EngTree rents for you. Your conversations, catalogue and orders stay there. To write replies, VI sends conversation text to an AI model through our account. We receive licence checks and a small health report with numbers only, and the details you give us when you buy. We do not sell data and we do not show ads.
What this website collects
Nothing personal. The site has no accounts, no forms and no analytics. Your language choice is stored in your browser only. When you tap a WhatsApp button, WhatsApp opens with a prefilled message; from then on, WhatsApp's own privacy policy applies.
What VI keeps on your computer
Everything VI needs to work is stored on the PC where it is installed: your catalogue, your rules, customer conversations, orders, your licence key and an encrypted AI key. VI keeps daily backups on the same PC. You control these files; you can back them up or delete them at any time. Uninstalling VI removes them.
The Business plan (hosted by EngTree)
On the Business plan your copy of VI runs in its own container on a server we rent in the European Union (Hetzner, Germany), with your own address under vi.engtree.com and your own password. Your data (catalogue, conversations, orders) is stored on that server's disk and backed up every night; the backups are kept for 14 days. EngTree staff can reach the server only with a private key, and only to run, update and back up VI; we do not read your conversations. When your subscription ends we keep your data for 30 days so you can come back, then delete it with its backups; you can ask for an export or an earlier deletion on WhatsApp.
What VI sends to EngTree
At start and regularly after that, VI checks its licence with our server using a machine fingerprint (a hash of hardware identifiers, not the identifiers themselves). Every 6 hours it sends a health report: whether it is running, the system check result, how many messages it handled and how many remain, which channels are on, the licence state and the version. It sends no message text, no names, no phone numbers and no keys. We keep these reports for up to 60 days to support you.
What third parties receive
To answer a customer, VI sends the conversation text to a language model through our account at an AI routing service (OpenRouter). We set that account so that providers which train on request data are not used. Messages on WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram pass through Meta's platform under Meta's terms. If you enable the website chat, visitor messages reach your PC through a secure tunnel. We do not read this content.
What we collect when you buy
Your business name, your name, your WhatsApp number and the payment reference you send us, so that we can issue and renew your licence, add messages and support you. We keep this for as long as you are a customer and for the period the law requires afterwards.
Your customers
You are responsible for your customers' data; VI is a tool you operate. Where your local law requires it, you are responsible for telling your customers that an assistant answers your number, and for honouring opt-outs. VI honours "stop" automatically for campaigns.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and object to its use. Write to eng@engegypt.com. Because your working data is on your own PC, most requests are things you can do yourself.
Security
The security page describes what we did. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach that affects you, we will tell you within 72 hours of confirming it.
Children
VI and this site are for businesses and are not directed at children under 18.
Changes
We will post changes here with a new date. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
